Disconnected

An unassuming regular white collar worker wakes up in the morning and gets ready for work, following his regular routine. After getting ready for work, he opens the door to leave the building. Upon going out, he mentally finds himself in the street he grew up in but in ruins. He tries to collect himself and tries to wake up from this horrid dream, with no avail. He tries his best to call his parents who are actually in the city yet there are no connection whatsoever. He realizes the scale of the situation and that he will not be able to know if his loved ones are still alive or dead and he cannot do anything to help them. With this feeling sinking in, the mental situation he's in deteriorates.
